MID SHIP
Steer the wheel so that the Rudder indicator pointed to ‘0’ (zero).
Kemudi tengah-tengah, sehingga rudder indicator menunjuk angka ‘0’ (nol).
PORT TEN
Steer the wheel so that the rudder indicator pointed 10 to the left (port side).
Kemudi diputar ke kiri sehingga rudder indicator menunjuk 10ke kiri.
STARBOARD FIVE
Steer the wheel so that the rudder indicator pointed 5 to the right (starboard side).
Kemudi diputar ke kanan sehingga rudder indicator menunjuk 5ke kanan.
STEADY AS SHE GOES
Steer the ship so the heading pointed to a certain point, for example ‘a mast’, ‘a tower’, ‘a light house’, or can be even ‘a present course as mention at the compass reading’.
Kemudikan kapal sehingga haluannya tetap menunjuk suatu arah yang ditetapkan, misalnya ‘tiang’, ‘menara’, ‘suar’, atau boleh jadi ‘sesuai penunjukan compass saat itu’
EASE TO FIVE
Steer the wheel from for example from 10 or 15 to 5 or 10°.
If the previous wheel was Port 15, then make it Port 10°.
Kemudi diputar misalnya dari 10atau 15 menjadi 5 atau 10. Bila sebelumnya misalnya 15kiri, putarlah sehingga menjadi 10kiri.
STEADY ONE TWO FIVE
Steer the ship so that the ship course in steady position 125 on compass reading.
Kemudikan kapal sehingga haluannya tetap menunjukkan 125.
MEET HER
Check and reduce the swing of the vessel´s bow.
Perikasa dan kurangi ayunan di haluan.
HARD to PORT or
HARD to STARBOARD
(pronounced as: harde
‘port or harde ‘starboard)
The wheel shall be fully turned to ‘port’ or ‘starboard’. Or, as usual, the hard wheel is effectively on 35
Kemudi diputar penuh kekiri (Hard to Port) atau penuh ke kanan (Hard to Starboard) atau biasanya putaran penuh = 35.Istilah dalam bahasa Indonesia dikatakan: “CIKAR KANAN” atau “CIKAR KIRI”.

Note :
1. Helm ‘commander’ can be Captain (Master), Officer in charge, or Pilot. Helmsman is the one who in charge on the wheel.
2. The Helmsman, shall clearly repeat the given command / order before the order is carried out.
3. After the order has been done, the helmsman shall repeat pronouncing clearly.
4. Example:
- Command : Port to five !
- Helmsman : Port to five, Sir !
.....(Then the helmsman turn the wheel until the rudder indicator pointed 5to Port side).
- Helmsman :( Now), Port to five, Sir !
5. In answering or repeating the order / command shall be in sufficient volumeand in brief, so that can be heard clearly by the commander.
6. In case of the given order is not clear to helmsman, he has to ask for repetition of the order:
- Command: Easy to five!
- Helmsman: (do not listen clearly) Please repeat, sir!
- Commander: Easy to five!
- Helmsman: Easy to five, sir! (etc)
Catatan:
1. Pemberi perintah adalah Nakhoda, Mualim jaga, atau Pandu. Juru mudi adalah awak kapal yang ditugaskan untuk memegang kemudi kapal.
2. Juru mudi wajib mengulang perintah yang di berikan sebelum melaksanakan perintah yang dimaksud.
3. Setelah perintah dilaksanakan, juru mudi wajib mengulangi/ mengucapkan dengan jelas.
4. Contoh:
- Perintah : Port to Five !
- Juru mudi : Port to Five, Sir !
....(Kemudian juru mudi memutar kemudi sampai rudder indicator menunjuk 5kekiri).
- Juru mudi : (Now), Port to Five, Sir !
5. Dalam menjawab / mengulang perintah harus dengan suara yang cukup dan tegas sehingga di dengar oleh pemberi perintah dengan jelas.
6. Apabila perintah tidak dapat ditangkap dengan baik (tidak jelas), juru mudi harus meminta pengulangan:
- Perintah: Easy to five
- Jurumudi: (tidak mendengar) Please repeat, sir! Perintah: Easy to five
- JuruMudi: Easy to five, sir!
